This Privacy Policy explains how Digital Tales LLC, doing business as Best Senior Living ("Best Senior Living," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you visit our websites, use our web applications, take our courses, work with us for consulting, or otherwise interact with us (together, our "Services").
Best Senior Living provides educational courses, web applications, and consulting services for families navigating senior care and senior living decisions. Our customers are individual consumers, not businesses.
By using our Services, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our Services.
If you have questions, you can reach us at [email protected] or at the mailing address listed in the "Contact Us" section below.
We know your time is short. Here is the short version, with the details below:
We collect the information you give us (like your name, email, and payment details) and some information that is collected automatically (like how you use our site).
Our web apps may ask you to enter details about a care contract or a family member's situation. We treat that information with extra care.
We use trusted outside companies to run our business — for payments, email, hosting, and some artificial intelligence (AI) features. We share information with them only so they can do work for us.
We do not sell your personal information for money.
You have rights over your information, including the right to see it, correct it, or ask us to delete it.
This Policy may change, and we will post the date of the most recent update at the top.
The rest of this document explains each of these points in full.
Account and contact information: your name, email address, phone number, and password when you create an account, buy a product, or sign up for our emails.
Purchase and billing information: your billing address and payment details. Payment card numbers are entered with and handled by our payment processor — we do not store full card numbers ourselves.
Course and app activity: answers, selections, scores, notes, and other content you enter while using our courses and web applications (for example, the questionnaire and contract details you enter in the Assisted Living Contract Checker).
Consulting information: the details you share with us by email, phone, video call, intake forms, or documents when you use our consulting services.
Communications: messages you send to our support team, survey responses, and feedback.
Some of our Services ask you to enter information about a care or housing situation. This can include details about a family member, such as an aging parent — including financial information and information related to their health or care needs.
You are not required to enter more than you choose. If you enter information about another person (such as a parent or relative), you confirm that you have the right to share it with us. We treat this information as confidential and use it only to provide the Service you asked for, as described in this Policy.
When you use our Services, we and our service providers may automatically collect:
Device and usage data: your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, pages viewed, links clicked, and the dates and times of your visits.
Cookies and similar technologies: small data files stored on your device. See "Cookies and Tracking Technologies" below.
We may receive information about you from:
Our service providers, such as our email platform and payment processor.
Advertising and analytics partners, who help us understand how people find and use our Services.
Affiliates and referral partners (see "Our Affiliate Program" below), who may tell us that you came to us through their link.
We use the information we collect to:
Provide, operate, and improve our courses, web applications, and consulting services.
Process your purchases and deliver what you bought, including generating your personalized results and documents (such as a Protection Score or Pocket Guide).
Create and manage your account and verify your purchase.
Send you transactional messages, such as order confirmations, login details, receipts, and important account notices.
Send you marketing emails about our products and offers, if you have agreed to receive them. You can opt out at any time.
Respond to your questions and provide customer support.
Personalize your experience and recommend products or resources that may help you.
Understand how our Services are used so we can make them better.
Detect, prevent, and address fraud, security issues, and misuse.
Comply with the law and enforce our terms and agreements.
If you are in a region that requires it, we rely on these legal bases: performing our contract with you; your consent (for example, for marketing emails); our legitimate interests in running and improving our business; and compliance with our legal obligations.
Some of our Services use artificial intelligence to help review information and generate results for you. For example, our applications may use a third-party AI provider to analyze the contract details or answers you enter and to produce guidance, summaries, or scores.
When this happens, the information you enter may be sent to our AI provider so it can be processed and a result can be returned to you. We use providers that handle this information under their own privacy and security commitments and that do not use your inputs to train their public models without authorization. AI-generated results are meant to be educational and informational. They are not legal advice and are not a substitute for advice from a qualified attorney or professional.
We and our partners use cookies, pixels, tags, and similar technologies to operate our Services, remember your preferences, measure performance, and support advertising.
We generally use these categories:
Strictly necessary — needed for the site and apps to work, such as keeping you logged in and processing payments.
Analytics — help us understand how visitors use our Services so we can improve them.
Advertising — help us and our advertising partners show relevant ads and measure their results, including on platforms such as social media and video sites.
You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where available, through cookie controls we provide on our sites. Blocking some cookies may affect how our Services work.
Do Not Track: Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no common industry standard for responding to it, so our Services do not currently respond to these signals. Where the law requires it, we honor recognized opt-out preference signals (such as Global Privacy Control).
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only in the ways described here.
We share information with trusted companies that perform services for us, only as needed to do that work. These include providers for:
Customer relationship management, purchase validation, and email workflows (for example, our CRM and marketing platform).
Transactional email delivery.
Website and application hosting and database storage.
Payment processing.
Artificial intelligence processing (see Section 4).
Analytics and advertising.
These providers are required to protect your information and may use it only to perform services for us.
See "Our Affiliate Program" (Section 7) for how information is handled when you reach us through a partner.
We may share information when we believe it is reasonably necessary to: comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or government request; enforce our terms and agreements; protect the rights, property, or safety of Best Senior Living, our users, or others; or detect and prevent fraud or security problems.
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your personal information as required by law.
We may share information with others when you ask us to or agree to it.
We may operate an affiliate or referral program in which independent businesses and partners promote our products and services. If a partner refers you to us, the following may apply:
Tracking referrals. When you click a partner's link, we may place a cookie or use a similar method to record that you came from that partner, so we can pay any commission or other compensation that is owed.
What partners can see. Affiliates generally receive limited information — such as the fact that a referred sale occurred and the amount — so we can calculate their compensation. We do not give affiliates access to the sensitive contract, financial, or family details you enter into our courses, web applications, or consulting engagements.
Independent businesses. Affiliates are independent and are not authorized to make promises on our behalf. They are responsible for their own privacy practices on their own websites.
If you have questions about whether you were referred by a partner, contact us at the email below.
We keep your personal information for as long as it is needed to provide the Services, run our business, and meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations. When we no longer need it, we take steps to delete it or make it anonymous. Specific retention periods depend on the type of information and why we hold it.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, such as encryption in transit, access controls, and trusted hosting providers. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. Please help protect your account by keeping your password private.
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights:
Access — to know what personal information we hold about you.
Correction — to fix information that is wrong.
Deletion — to ask us to delete your information.
Portability — to receive a copy of your information in a usable format.
Opt out of marketing — to stop receiving marketing emails (use the unsubscribe link in any email).
Opt out of sale or sharing for targeted advertising — where this applies.
Limit certain uses of sensitive information, where this applies.
Withdraw consent you have given, at any time.
Non-discrimination — we will not treat you unfairly for using your rights.
How to use your rights: email us at [email protected] with your request. We may need to verify your identity before we act, to protect your information. You may use an authorized agent to make a request where the law allows. We will respond within the time required by law.
If we deny your request, you may have the right to appeal. To appeal, reply to our response or contact us at the email above, and we will review the decision.
California law gives residents specific rights, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell your personal information for money. In the past 12 months, we have collected the categories of information described in Section 2 and shared them with the parties described in Section 6. You may use the rights above by contacting us as described in this section.
Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws have rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of their personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, and certain profiling. You may use these rights, including the right to appeal, by contacting us as described above.
We are based in the United States, and our Services are intended for users in the United States. If you access our Services from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country. By using our Services, you understand that your information will be handled as described in this Policy.
Our Services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where a higher age applies). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Our Services may link to websites and tools we do not control, including those of our partners and the platforms where we publish content. This Policy does not apply to those third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last Updated" date at the top. If the changes are significant, we will provide a more noticeable notice, such as an email or a notice on our site. Your continued use of our Services after an update means you accept the updated Policy.
